Located 15km from New Denver, off Highway 31A at an elevation of 1050 metres.
The K&S Rail Trail is groomed and track set from Sandon Rail station to Payne Creek, a distance of 3km one way. Along the trail, skiers will enjoy views of Sandon and surrounding peaks, pass historical signage and observe an abandoned mine building. Adventurous skiers can combine the K&S with the Cody Spur for a more challenging outing of the same distance.
There are two maps of the route on the K&S. Free map brochures are available at the Sandon Rail Station/ warming hut, Valhalla Pure or the New Denver village office. The trail and rail station are managed by volunteers of the North Slocan Trails Society and Rec Sites and Trails BC with funding from RSTBC, CBT, Valhalla Hills Nordic, Regional District Rec Com #6, and by donations at the trail head. Parking is tight some days just past the trail head on the right, angle parking.
